If You’re Considering Liposuction in the Dallas, TX Area

Liposuction helps sculpt your body by removing fat from various areas of your body such as your abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, chin, and neck. Many new techniques allow plastic surgeons to produce better results for patients, while also allowing them to recover more quickly from their procedure.

If you’re considering liposuction in Dallas, this information will help you understand more about the procedure and decide whether or not it is for you. In many cases, you will have questions unique to your own circumstances, and you will have to talk with a plastic surgeon to fully understand your situation.

Who are the Best Candidates for Liposuction in Dallas?

The best candidate for liposuction is a person that desires better contour with areas of excess fat. Age is not a huge factor, but looser skin found in older patients may cause them to not experience as positive of results as younger people.

How to Plan Your Surgery

If you schedule an initial consultation, your surgeon takes the time to fully evaluate your health, determine the fatty areas of your body, and assess the overall condition of your skin. You will learn which body contouring methods will work best for you. Sometimes, your surgeon discovers that a tummy tuck may work better, or that a combination of a tummy tuck and liposuction may be most effective.

How to Prepare for your Liposuction in the Dallas Area

You will receive detailed information regarding preparation for your surgery from your doctor. If you end up getting an infection combined with a fever, notify your doctor immediately. All patients age 50 and over must have their chests X-rayed and must have an EKG performed prior to receiving any general type of anesthesia. Make sure to have someone ready to drive you home from your procedure and to help you at home for the first day or two after your surgery.

Where We Perform Your Surgery

Your liposuction in Dallas is performed in our outpatient facility in Irving with a board-certified anesthesiologist.

About the Surgery

It can take a wide variety of time to complete your liposuction procedure, which depends on how large the area is to be worked on, the amount of fat to be removed, the technique being used.

The goal of liposuction is to recontour the shape of your body to a more desirable state.

After Your Surgery is Completed

Some fluid drainage from your incisions is normal. You may receive a snug elastic garment to protect the areas treated for a few weeks. Antibiotics may also be prescribed to prevent any infections from occurring.

Newer techniques do reduce the pain and recovery time, but they don’t eliminate either. You will experience discomfort, temporary numbness, and swelling to a certain degree. Medications ease the painful feelings, but you may still experience stiffness or soreness for a few days.

How to Get Back to Normal

Recovering from liposuction takes some time. Your surgeon will most likely recommend you start walking as soon as you can, as this prevents blood clots from forming in your legs and reduces swelling. You will feel better in 1-2 weeks, and you should be able to work just a few days after your surgery. Your stitches are removed or dissolved on their own after about 7-10 days.

You should avoid more strenuous activity. After 3 weeks, you can expect most bruising and swelling to disappear. However, some bruising and swelling lasts more than 6 months.

Enjoy the New You!

Relatively shortly after your liposuction in the Dallas area, you will experience noticeable results. After about 4-6 weeks, however, you will notice more dramatic improvement after your swelling has reduced. After 3 months, all swelling should disappear, and the final contour will become visible.

If you have realistic expectations about your liposuction, you will be quite pleased with your results. You will feel more self-confident in your new look, and you will feel more comfortable in a variety of clothes. If you commit to a healthy diet and regular exercise, you can keep your healthy new shape for a long, long time.
